Author Offers Healing to Those Hurt by Adultery

We were privileged to help first-time author, Lonnie R. Walker II, self-publish his wonderfully insightful book, Be Ye Reconciled: God’s Answer to Adultery. As a church leader and counselor, Lonnie has seen the destruction of adultery in too many lives. His book is written to help bring healing and restoration to those hurt by adultery.

It has been two months since Elder Walker’s book released and we wanted to take a few minutes with him to hear about his book, his heart for restoring marriages, and publishing directly with Lightning Source (LSI).

· Tell us about “Be Ye Reconciled.”
In Luke 4:18, the Bible quotes Jesus saying, “He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted.” In Hebrews 13:4, we read, “Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.” That is exactly what Be Ye Reconciled is about. Far too many of God’s children remain wounded after being touched by the sin of adultery and are left feeling that all hope is lost. This book is a reminder that God sees all of the hurt they have gone through and that they can rest assured that He will send His healing virtue to soothe their broken hearts. In the book, I also address the offenders, reminding them that they can find redemption at the throne of Jesus.

· What was it that inspired you to write this book?
After years of marriage ministry and couples counseling, I felt compelled by God to address the problem of adultery within the Body of Christ. It seemed that far too many couples in our classes or with whom we had the privilege of counseling had a story to tell regarding adultery. As I started writing, an obvious pattern emerged. I noticed I was addressing three different parties, each affected differently by this sinful act: the offender, the offended and the church. I structured the book to address each.

· What do you hope this work will accomplish?

My only goal is to see the Church of Jesus Christ fulfill its destiny of being found without spot or wrinkle upon Christ’s return to receive His Bride. We have tolerated this sin for too long, made those wounded by it victims, and failed to deal appropriately with the perpetrators of this sin. It is tolerated in the world so readily because we’ve tolerated it in the church. The time has come for that to change.

· Who is your target audience?

Primarily members of the Body of Christ who have been impacted in some way by adultery and secondarily, anyone else who can benefit from seeing restoration in their lives after being affected by this sin.

· What will readers get from this book?

It is my prayer that first, those who have been betrayed would find hope, healing, restoration and encouragement. Next, that the betrayers would come to repentance and reconciliation with God primarily, and with their spouse, if possible. Lastly, that the church would rise up and begin to stand for righteousness within our ranks and hold our leaders accountable for their actions. Too many Christian leaders commit this sin or fail to deal with it adequately.

· How has “Be Ye Reconciled” been received so far? What kind of feedback have you gotten?

Generally, the feedback has been gratefulness that someone is finally saying it. I’ve also had folks express that they now know that God really understands what they were going through. Both men and women have reached out and said thank you.

· What are your plans for getting the word out on “Be Ye Reconciled“?

I am hoping to use all social media available to me. Additionally, it is my plan to forward copies of the book to senior pastors I know around the world and suggest its use in their small groups or couples Bible studies. Additionally, as people share how blessed they have been, I expect to accept speaking engagements whenever possible. One thing I would also urge is that people purchase this book for friends who are trying to navigate the storm of adultery, or recover from it.

· You published this work directly with LSI (Lightning Source), so you are not just the author of the work, but a publisher of it as well.  Why did you choose this route over, say a company like Authorhouse, WestBow or Xulon Press?

I found that the cost was more than I could afford to spend at one time using these companies. One actually quoted me a price of over $10,000 just to get started! This was not a very cost effective way to get this labor of love out as I saw it.

· Provide us with an overview of how it works, publishing directly with LSI.
It was really rather simple (once you get over the intimidation of doing it yourself), at least after watching you and the ChristianWriterHelp.com team work. You simply navigate through the menus, fill in the appropriate information. When they email you the documents, complete them and fax/email them back. Upload your book materials and bam, you’re ready to have your book printed.

· Any advice for authors considering LSI?

Seek out someone like Jim Kochenburger and his staff at ChristianWriterHelp.com for guidance and you will be sure to have your questions answered and directed on exactly what you need to do to make your book a reality.

Thank you Lonnie, for taking a few minutes to tell us about your book, “Be Ye Reconciled: God’s Plan for Adultery“!
